The following meditation should not be used while driving or operating any type of machinery.
This is a meditation, that with your discernment, you will be able to use in your daily life….at work, at home, or spending time in nature. If you are new to the body scan mediation, choose somewhere where you won’t be disturbed and can feel safe to relax. You may like to sit comfortably in a chair, or you can choose to stretch out and lie on the floor, a mat, or a bed.
This body scan meditation is a mindfulness meditation. It will help you become really present with your physical body, learn to witness and expand your witnessing of body sensations, and it will increase your ability to focus and concentrate.
It will increase your awareness of your body, stress carried by the body, and promote mindfulness and relaxation.
The focus of this meditation is to simply notice what sensation are present for you right now.
There is no judging…evaluating…or analyzing the sensations your body is experiencing….if thoughts of this nature do arise, and they will, simply let them go and return your awareness to the sensations in the body, in the current moment.
Moods…thoughts….feelings….outside noises….inside movements….all will arise and that’s ok….just simply, and gently, bring your awareness back to the body, in the current moment…right here….right now.
If you find yourself distracted or that your mind has wandered, just come back to conscious awareness of the part of the body where you left off, or as your are guided in the mediation.
